World Economic Forum’s ‘Global Competitive Report’ for 2014-15

India has slipped to Rank 71 in World Economic Forum’s ‘Global Competitive Report’ for 2014-15

The only consolation is we seem to be doing rather well on the innovation front, with a relatively respectable rank of 49. Of course, hotbeds of innovation such as Cyprus (ranked 36) and Panama (40) do better than us on this yardstick.

We also did well in “financial market development”, with a rank of 51.  We lick Brazil too, at No. 53. But the splendid show is spoilt a bit when we compare the awesome financial markets developed in Guatemala, ranked 45. Foreign institutional investors must be raving about Guatemala. Enough said about Sri Lanka, which comes in at No. 47.
